Liposomal Asiaticoside

Liposomal Asiaticoside is an advanced delivery form of asiaticoside, a naturally occurring triterpenoid glycoside found in Centella asiatica, also known as Gotu Kola. Asiaticoside has long been studied for its potential roles in skin care, tissue support, and overall cellular protection. However, like many plant-derived bioactive compounds, it faces challenges such as limited water solubility, instability during storage, and relatively low penetration through the skin or biological membranes. Liposomal technology is designed to address these limitations by encapsulating asiaticoside within microscopic phospholipid vesicles, improving its performance and usability in a wide range of applications.A liposome is a tiny spherical carrier made from phospholipids, the same type of molecules that form cell membranes. When asiaticoside is enclosed in this structure, it may become better protected from oxidation, light, and degradation caused by environmental factors. This protective environment can help preserve the integrity of the active ingredient and support a more controlled release profile. As a result, liposomal asiaticoside may offer enhanced stability compared with non-encapsulated forms. One of the main advantages of liposomal delivery is improved bioavailability. Asiaticoside alone may not be efficiently absorbed in topical or oral formulations because of its polarity and molecular characteristics. Liposomes can help transport the ingredient more effectively, allowing it to interact with the target site more efficiently. In skincare, this may contribute to better delivery into the upper layers of the skin, supporting products intended for soothing, barrier support, and visible skin rejuvenation. In more general wellness contexts, improved delivery may also support the use of asiaticoside in functional formulations.Liposomal asiaticoside is especially valued in cosmetic and dermatological applications. It is often associated with formulations designed to support skin comfort, hydration, and the appearance of smoother, healthier-looking skin. Because Centella asiatica compounds are commonly linked with calming and restorative properties, liposomal incorporation can make these benefits more practical in modern formulations. The liposomal system may also reduce the amount of active ingredient needed to achieve a desired effect, which can be advantageous for product efficiency. From a formulation perspective, liposomal asiaticoside can be incorporated into creams, serums, gels, lotions, and other emulsions. It is important for formulators to maintain proper pH, temperature, and storage conditions to preserve liposome structure and maximize performance. Depending on the size and composition of the liposomes, the release rate and skin interaction can be further optimized for specific product goals.Overall, liposomal asiaticoside represents a sophisticated approach to delivering a traditional botanical active in a more effective and stable form. By combining the natural benefits of asiaticoside with modern liposomal technology, it offers improved protection, enhanced delivery, and greater versatility for innovative skincare and wellness formulations.

Premium Liposomal Asiaticoside 40% Wound Healing and Anti-Inflammatory Formula Product Summary Liposomal Asiaticoside 40% is a high-purity, liposomal-encapsulated form of asiaticoside—the principal pentacyclic triterpenoid saponin of Centella asiatica (L.) Urban (Gotu Kola, 积雪草)—standardized to ≥40% active content. Asiaticoside is a naturally occurring ursane-type triterpene glycoside with the molecular formula C₄₈H₇₈O₁₉ and a molecular weight of 959.13 g/mol. It is the primary active constituent responsible for the wound-healing, collagen-stimulating, and anti-inflammatory properties attributed to Centella asiatica, which has been used in traditional medicine for centuries. However, native asiaticoside is a large, water-insoluble molecule (water solubility 99 mg/L at 20°C) that can hardly permeate biological barriers due to its high molecular weight and poor liposolubility. Liposomal encapsulation within a phospholipid bilayer addresses these fundamental limitations. CTG-loaded liposomes encapsulated with asiaticoside achieved an average particle size of 137.0 nm with a zeta potential of −21.2 mV, and the cumulative absorption amount of asiaticoside in the liposomal formulation was significantly higher than in unencapsulated CTG (P < 0.05). Asiaticoside liposome gel achieved a drug encapsulation rate of 90.80% with good percutaneous permeation and absorption performance. This water-dispersible powder is suitable for capsules, functional beverages, and nutritional formulations targeting skin health, wound healing, and anti-inflammatory support. Each batch is HPLC-standardized and quality-tested for purity, identity, and asiaticoside content.
